Statistical Data Availability

The data in NHGIS are grouped by dataset and time period. Each dataset's individual tables are then grouped by concepts. The concepts are used to navigate to the various tables available within NHGIS. It should be noted that concepts available for each decade may vary by geography type. For example, counties in 1790 may have fewer concepts (variables) available than states in 1790.
