NHGIS Data Finder

If you want statistical data files, please use the Data Finder. (You will need to be a registered NHGIS user access the Datafinder.)

The NHGIS Data Finder provides digital statistical data in your choice of Comma-Separated Values and Column-delimited data files. These files can be used in combination with an ASCII codebook, SPSS, SAS, or Stata command files which are also available. Unlike the mapping options available in NHGIS, statistical data are available for all geographies that have been previously released by the US Census Bureau. In order to use these data, the user must have access to a spreadsheet or statistical program that will read these files.

NHGIS gives access to individual tables within files housed in datasets. Datasets are grouped by year and then geography. Within these selections, a user then can download individual tables, multiple tables.
